PONTE DE PEDRA Hydroelectrical Development consists of usage of Correntes River, to generate electrical power to serve Central-West Brazil. The Correntes River is located in the border of Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso States in West-Central Brazil, just in the upper border of wild and swamp area of Pantanal-a very sensitive environmental area.
The hydroelectrical scheme at PONTE DE PEDRA exploit a water head of 246,25 m to generate 176,1MW net power injecting 1152GWh/year to National Interconnected Grid S/SE/CO.
The power generated at PONTE DE PEDRA is already sold to CEMIG under a PPA for a period of  20 years.
In the underground powerhouse are installed 3 turbine-generator sets 58,7MW rated power supplied by GE Hydro INEPAR to CIGLA-SADE Consortium(Impregilo-Skanska) who is main contractor to the owner PPE-Ponte de Pedra Energética for construction of power plant and associated 138kV transmission system, under a BOT scheme.
Power generated in the powerhouse at elevation EL.149.50 is evacuated from generators to step up transformers at transformer deck EL.390,00 in the top of a high shaft by means of 03 sets of Isolated Phase Bus 13,8kV-3000A.

The shaft is 246,24m height and 7,0m in diameter and is used for main acess to the powerhouse by means of an elevator and a steel stair. The shaft is used also for ventilation of the powerhouse and acess route for power and control cables.
The Isolated Phase Bus of the 3 generating units are installed in steel stair/elevator combined supports specially designed for that purpose.
The Isolated Phase Bus was supplied by PowerBus to IESA-Inepar, Araraquara, Brazil and was entirelly designed and built in Itajaí, SC, Brazil.
Powerbus supplied also jobsite supervision during erection and comissioning.
This project, by his nature,has several technical challenges and Powerbus adopted advanced engineering techniques including Finite Elements Method (FEM) to better determine the equipment sizing in order meet customer specifications regarding losses and guaranteed operating temperatures.
For manufacturing and site erection PowerBus also developed innovative and creative solutions in order easy transportation to remote jobsite located
1500km away from the factory,by dirt roads, as well specially design aproach was adopted to reduce labor and optimize field assembling and welding in the shaft section and at same time acomplish with severe Quality and Safety standards required by Customer.
